Brynneth Report post Posted March 6, 2017 Our VPN uses a randomly generated key with unique tokens per user to log in (much like battle.net authentication). We moved a few months ago from physical RSA key fobs to a completely virtual token system since that allowed us more freedom and efficiency in terms of allocating tokens to remote users without needing to post physical tokens around the place. We initially set up the new system with a 3rd party vendor for a 150-token limit, but have hit that cap about 6 weeks ago. Naturally, we contacted them to increase the licence. We were told this might take a couple of weeks to get new tokens approved from the software company. Then there was a delay. Then we needed even more tokens and upped the licence order. Then we were told there'd be a bigger delay. We've been asking twice a week what the fuck is taking so long to obtain an expanded licence and apply it to our account with no useful reply other than that it should all be sorted out by 7th March. Today, we got a parcel from the 3rd party vendor. Inside was 50 physical token authenticators. IT manager has hit the fucking roof.

NATO Report post Posted March 16, 2017 So this evening I was in that London at an Unreal meetup; I walked past what looked like a MoonPig office. I don't know if you work on Great Guildford St or not Todd, but you do now, at least for me. In other news I accidentally invalidated my oyster card. Last time I went to London it didn't register my tap out and I ended up being overcharged, I put in a refund request which was granted and I was told it was available to pick up at Kings Cross (my point of origin into the system). I get there today and go to a top up point place and find out that it's not been credited. Slightly confused I see a lit up "REFUND" button and like a moth drawn to a flame I mash it. The machine proceeds to spit the (corrected) value of my card and the deposit. OK, Well at least I have my money back. I tap my oyster card again to try and put more cash on and NOPE, this card is deactivated and cannot be used. In the end I just used my bank card. But wait, there's more! On the way back my card refuses to be read and demands I contact my bank. In was only then I realized that I could get a new oyster card from the top up machine and did so. Oh, I also discovered that while fidget cubes might be cool and stress reducing, but listening to someone on the train talking about how they were "crowed surfed" and similar almost but not entirely like actuall terms, multiple times, is in fact extremely stress enduing. Fyria Report post Posted March 17, 2017 12 hours ago, Buachalla said: I just noticed this should be in the other thread. Oops. Fail, but yeah, brilliant broken signage going on there. Whilst still being true. In terms of signs on the way here, I wasn't expecting a double Welcome to England sign, but I also didn't expect to accidentally Wales either. Lagrosh Report post Posted March 24, 2017 Slept in a sleep clinic the last 3 nights. In there I was expected to go to bed around 9:30 and GTFO by 5:30. While cabled up. Was strange. On the bright side, I can customised my new mask to make it look like Darth Vader.

Brynneth Report post Posted April 4, 2017 Just dealt with a newly transferred to us user who's been "remote working" but unable to do anything for 2 days since he didn't have access to company anything (due to VPN access forms not being filled by his manager, I asssume). Turns out all he was missing was email, and that was only because there wasn't a shortcut to Outlook on his desktop and he didn't know where to look for it in Start menu. If brains were nukes some of our users wouldn't be able to detonate their own hats.

Largi Report post Posted April 8, 2017 This is my project i've been working on. We as a team have created the assets. I recruited the guys talking, designed the set e.t.c and recorded it. Admittedly the capsules were 12 hours pre-shoot trying to come up with a solution as the client suddently decided they didn;t liek our digital randomiser and button... Fyria Report post Posted April 8, 2017 (edited) Makes sense though, it's easier to reassure people intuitively that there's no fixing if physical capsules are used and drawn on video, even if you know a digital randomiser is doing it correctly, when it comes to major tournaments (at least in regular sport), this is much more common and you'll have less claiming that results are "fixed" if patterns seemingly emerge, which they can, because that's how random works. Anyway, nice job! Edit: I also only skimmed part of it this morning, so haven't seen the full thing, I noticed the capsules were drawn in fours, is this because they're seeded groups? Just wondering, they may have explained it in a part of the video I missed. Edited April 8, 2017 by Fyria
Largi Report post Posted April 8, 2017 The tournament system is the most bizare thing. So the top 12 teams start in 4 groups of 4 with the 4th spot being open. The 3 teams in the groups will play vs each other on day 1. On day 2 the 4th team will join the group and play the 3 from earlier. (This is the top 4 teams from an open double elim but only those who didn't take a loss) Then Day 3 is a weighted double eliminaton bracket. where the 16 from groups and 4 from the lower half of the open bracket all duke it out! So yea. 12 teams seeded
